Download & Installation instructions for Adobe Acrobat Reader:

  • Click on "Get Acrobat Reader" button.
  • Scroll down until you see "Get the free Acrobat Reader." Follow the three easy steps.
  • A dialog box will appear: At the top of the box it says "File Download".

    "You have chosen to down load a file from this location ar40eng.exe from ftp.adobe.com.

    What would you like to do with this file?

    Run program from disk

    Save program to disk

    You want to save program to disk. Click "OK".

  • The next dialog box that will appear will say "Save As" at the top of the box. Beneath that it will say "Save in". You can choose to save your file in the current directory (where your at) OR create a new directory.

    (Win 95 instructions)

    To create a directory called "download" click on the down arrow to make sure your at the main drive, C: or D: or whatever drive you want to save the file to.

    Click on the file folder that has a little asterisk * at the top right of the folder.

    When you click that on a new folder will appear. Type in the name of the directory. EXAMPLE: download.

    Click on the "download" folder. Notice at the top of the box it says "Save in" download. At the bottom of the box it will say "File name". You will see ar32e301.exe. Click on "Save". Your file will start downloading. Depending upon the speed of your modem this may take a few minutes or longer.

    You can view other things on the Internet while you are in the process of downloading. Just minimize the window by clicking the "" .

  • To install Adobe Acrobat reader: (win95 instructions) Click on "Start" Click on "Run". In the dialog box type the drive, the directory and the file name:

    EXAMPLE: C:\download\ar32e301.exe

  • Click "OK". Your program will start the install. If there is a failure at any point during the installation of Acrobat Reader 3.01, the installer performs a complete uninstall. For this reason, it is important not to close the installer application by clicking its close box in the upper right corner of the background window after clicking the "Thank You" dialog box that appears at the end of the installation. If you wait for a second or two, the installer will automatically close the background windows after the installation is complete.
